This morning I sent email about the event to local media in from Seattle to Spokane to Grangeville. I expect one or more will write about the event and some may attend.
Due to cancellations and in one case leaving for the army early there are still eight positions available.
I checked with Cingular, Inland Cellular, Qwest, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Only Inland Cellular and Verizon have coverage at the site. Inland Cellular is analog only. Last year I had coverage with my AT&T phone. I switched over to Cingular and now have nothing. I will get a cell phone just for the event and give the number out to all attendees.
54 positions have been filled with 92 people there are six positions remaining. I expect it will fill up within a week to 10 days.
46 positions have been filled. There are 14 positions remaining. But I also know of several entries that are "in the mail". If I have not acknowledged your entry yet and you sent it before March 10th please let me know. I think I am all caught up now but it's possible I have an entry laying around someplace that I didn't find on my first pass through the stack of papers on my desk.
36 positions have been filled. There are 24 positions remaining.
On Saturday I made some new targets and shot at them from 630 yards with a .223. I made a number of errors and didn't realize until after I got home that because of the cold (30F) and the exceptionally high air pressure (30.5" of Hg) the target velocity was probably under 1200 fps. This velocity is below what I would have expected the targets to detonate and that in fact is exactly what happened. I had nearly a dozen solid hits without them detonating. I fired one round of CCI Stinger (high velocity .22LR) from about 15 yards away (probably about 1500 fps target velocity) and the same target with three .223 holes detonated. I really want to test the .223 with a target velocity of 1400 to 1500 fps.
34 positions have been filled. There are 26 positions remaining.
31 positions have been filled. There are 29 positions remaining.
30 positions have been filled. There are 30 positions remaining.
The Precision Rifle Clinic is full. Contact Gene if you want to be put on the waiting list.
28 positions have been filled. There are 32 positions remaining.
27 positions have been filled. There are 33 positions remaining.
Advertising has begun. Slots should fill up much faster now.
26 positions have been filled. There are 34 positions remaining.
Due to the further implementation of a police state in the UK I'm offering British subjects free entry to Boomershoot 2006. Notify me a month early and I will supply the rifle and ammo. Show up a couple days early and learn how to make reactive targets. See also this blog posting.
Due to the proposed ban on all handguns in Canada Boomershoot 2006 will be half price to Canadian residents. Enter at the normal price and get a rebate of half the entry fee when you arrive and show proof of Canadian residency. See also this blog posting.
The online entry has been a big hit. Some women have purchased gift entries for their husbands and numerous other entries have resulted in a big rush. I have a total of 19 slots filled now. In 2003 that many positions weren't taken until February 7th. In 2002 it wasn't until February 28th. Get your entries in soon unless you just want to be just be a spectator.
Unless it was a snail mail sent in the last week everyone should have received their confirmation email by now. If not let me know. I was really slow in getting some of the confirmations out and there's a remote possibility I lost one or two.
Online entry has been implemented via PayPal.
The dates have been set: the Precision Rifle Clinic is Friday and Saturday, April 28th and 29th. The Boomershoot is Sunday, April 30th.
Eugene Econ has said he intends to return in 2006 for two days again. Details will be posted when they become available.
The Boomershoot price and entry is completely separate from the Precision Rifle Clinic. Sign up for both to make the most of your weekend. The Precision Rifle Clinic registration is done directly with Eugene Econ.
There are about 60 shooting positions available. Each position costs $100.00 ($95.00 if you are Lewiston Pistol Club member). There are significant discounts for early entries (prior to January 2006). The prices include Idaho sales tax. If you want to share a position with another shooter there is an additional, but reduced charge for them. No more than three shooters may share one position.
Canadian entrants get a rebate of one half their entry fee upon showing proof of Canadian residency at the day of the shoot.
Each person attending must send an email including and agreeing to the following rules:
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
At least one person must include a telephone number.
Pay via PayPal:
Snail mail entry:
See the printable entry form for detailed pricing. If you wish to give someone a gift of a position at the event send the check made out to "FlashTek" for the proper amount and mail it to the address below. On the check or on a short note say, "Gift for John Doe" or whoever. Print out the gift entry form and have them send it in at their earliest convenience. Their position will be held for them, but they must send in the form two weeks prior to the event so they will get all the additional necessary information.
Send your entries to the following address:
LPC Boomershoot
P.O. Box 3745
Moscow, Idaho 83843-1916
NOTE: The '1916' on the zip code is essential! It goes to the wrong post office without it.
The entry form has the Minimum Gun Safety Rules which you must have memorized. Or, if you prefer, Jeff Cooper's four rules of safe gun handling. Memorize them. You will be asked to repeat them (take your pick, either the NRA or Jeff Cooper version) when you show up. Think of this as an I.Q. test. You don't want to look stupid and go home without shooting. Pass the test. You will be expected to follow the rules at all times. If you don't follow them you will become a non-shooter for the remainder of the day. Refunds for safety violations will be very unlikely.
You will get an email response confirming your entry. If you don't get it then send me an email to find out if it has been lost or I have just been lazy in picking up my mail and/or getting the confirmation out. If you want to reserve a slot then find a partner to share it with you later that is fine. Send in your entry form with your money then when your partner is ready to send in their entry they should just put a short note on it saying they are sharing a slot with you and send it with the additional money due.
All entries must be received by April 25th. Make the check out to FlashTek. You MUST have web access and an email address. Also, I need phone numbers so that I can contact you at the last minute in case some extraordinary situation comes up.
See General Information for more details on what to bring and expect on site.
